对于Debian的用户来说,联网、apt-get的拥有是比其它发行版有过之而无不及的优点。但这并不是Debian决对优势所在。在我们已知的Debian发行版中有三个项目,从2000年以前的土豆到woody是稳定的发行版之外,另一体系就是sarge和unstable。在许多Linuxfans当中一直把 Debian做为一个作为最终的理想,并为之而维护一切Debian所不可侵犯的自由及利益。

.  How to enable virtual memory (swap)?

If you already have a swap partition prepared on your disk, Frankie Linux will detect and use it automatically. If you don't have one, or if you wish to enable more virtual memory, use fileswap command. It requires two arguments, path to file which will be created (save it to /mnt/disk/, make sure that the target partition is writable by linux) and used for swap and desired size of swap file.

The best method is to create a Frankie Linux module (.mo). But there is another method available if you need to change only few files, it's called rootcopy. Frankie Linux CD contains a directory /rootcopy/. The content of this directory is copied to root filesystem each time you boot Frankie Linux, preserving all directories. So, for example, If you wish to just use your own xorg.conf file, create /rootcopy/etc/X11/ directory on the CD and store your xorg.conf to it.

There are many ways how to create Frankie Linux modules. All commands described here work directly in Frankie Linux, but can also work in your own distribution. For that case, download linux live scripts and run install.

The following command will convert Slackware's TGZ package to Frankie Linux module:

tgz2mo application.tgz application.mo
